This Simple Crudité Board highlights all the vegetables that we love in a simple and elegant arrangement. The traditional vegetable tray has just gotten a little more exciting!

What is crudité?

Crudité or crudités are bits of raw vegetables served with a dip as an appetizer or party platter and are what you’ll find on a traditional vegetable tray.
The word crudité is French, so you may just call them raw vegetables if you choose to.  It’s also a simple appetizer that you can prepare ahead of time. A healthy snack to enjoy and a way to add more veggies into your diet!

Difference Between Charcuterie, Cheese & Relish Board

The nicest thing about a Crudite Board is that all of the chopped fresh vegetables are delicious on their own or as a medium for the dip or hummus that is normally served with them. A Relish Board, a Charcuterie Board, or a Cheese Board are not quite the same thing.

A Relish Board will include veggies that have been preserved by cooking, fermenting or pickling. Similarly, a Cheese Board typically includes meats, cheeses, nuts, olives, and crackers to go with them.

A Charcuterie Board features several types of prepared meats, such as cured and hard salami, confit, sausage, and even paté, and is accompanied by mustards, jellies, and crackers to go with the meat.

Vegetables to Use Crudites

A crudite board is so much more than a carrot and celery stick platter. Create a healthy colorful veggie board that will be sure to please everyone. Some vegetables you can use are:

  • Broccoli or Cauliflower
  • Celery
  • Cucumber or Zucchini
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Snap Peas
  • Carrots
  • Asparagus
  • Bell Peppers
  • Radishes

What are Crudités usually Served with?

Because the purpose of a Crudités Platter is to offer the veggies raw, it is standard to serve them with a dip or dressing. I love serving my crudité boards with tzatziki and/or hummus. Since, you can have different texture dips, as well as varied tastes and spice levels. With so many various vegetables, flavors, and textures, I like to serve at least 2-3 different dips for a crudité platter, depending on the size of the board or tray you use, how many different veggies you have, and how many people you’re serving.

How to Make Crudités Board

Tools used: Round Platter or Wooden Tray, Knife, Chopping Board, Small Ramekin

  1. Wash and clean your choice of vegetables. Any vegetables you can chop into sticks and keep small bite-size whole pieces. Arrange your vegetables and dips on your board. Serve and Enjoy!
